Ash Wednesday Communion Service
March 5, 8:00pm
Chapel
Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent and serves as a call to spiritual reflection and discipline. Historically, Lent originated in the early Church as a period of penitence and fasting, leading up to the celebration of Easter. While traditionally associated with the imposition of ashes, some Protestant communities, like ours, use anointing oil instead, aligning with Jesus’ teachings in Matthew 6:17-18 to anoint oneself when fasting, thus keeping the focus on personal repentance and spiritual renewal. So, let’s begin our Lenten journey together on Wednesday, March 5, at 8:00pm for our Ash Wednesday Communion Service.
