Read: Acts 13:1–3

Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on Paul and Barnabas and sent them off. Acts 13:3

We are called toward God, only to be sent back into the world. The Spirit prompts us to gather for worship, prayer, and fasting so that we can discern where we are called to go and what we are called to do in this life. Church is not the destination of faith. Being sent into the world in the Lord’s service is the purpose of our belief. We come in to go out. We turn to God to be returned to the world. Worship, prayer, fasting, and other spiritual practices inform us of the mind of God and point us in the right direction. God’s call on our lives always sends us out into the world.

Where are you being sent?

Lord, I falter in my faith disciplines. My prayer life is inconsistent. I attend worship when it fits into my schedule. I cant remember the last time I attempted a fast. If I cant maintain simple faith practices that can bring my will in line with Your will, how will I know which way to go? Help me to cultivate a disciplined life that seeks to wait on You so that You can send me on Your way. In Jesusname, I pray. AMEN.
