Read: Romans 8:26–27

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. Romans 8:26

Our spirit and God’s Spirit are connected. That means God’s will, God’s endurance, God’s patience, and God’s love dwell within us. God’s Spirit even knows what we need and where we ache before we speak of it. This reality should not be simply a comfort but also an encouragement. Having something of God’s Spirit within us means we have capacity and resources for living that go well beyond our wildest imaginations. We possess an infinite reservoir of generosity, love, courage, compassion, and wisdom with which to navigate our way through life. Therefore, we should be particularly attentive to the promptings of our spirit within us . . . It is God’s Spirit directing us.

What does it mean for you to be endowed with God’s Spirit?

Lord, I have a sense of Your leading at times. I might call it a hunch or a gut feeling or just some deep sense of where I am supposed to go and what I am supposed to do at a particular moment. There are also moments when I feel broken or distraught or prepared to quit the fight, but somehow a resolve bubbles up within me that carries me forward and encourages me on my way. I may think of this as my own inner strength, but perhaps it is Your Spirit within me urging me on. I thank You for that gift. In Jesusname, I pray. AMEN.
