Dr. Jo Deen Blaine Davis

Jo Deen (Jody) Blaine Davis, a native of Missouri, has enjoyed a career in music education, performance, and church music. Since September 2005, Jody has been the Director of Music Ministries at The Congregational Church in New Canaan. Before moving to Connecticut, Jody was Organist & Assistant Director of Music at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Houston. Previously, she was Professor of Music in Keyboard and Theory at San Jacinto College South, Houston, for nearly twenty years. While teaching, she held church positions as choirmaster/organist at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church and at Central Presbyterian, Houston.

In 2003, Jody traveled with her husband, Ray, for nearly four months to Great Britain and Europe to perform solo organ recitals. Jody has performed throughout the United States as guest recitalist for American Guild of Organists’ conventions and has been the featured recitalist at the Washington National Cathedral.

Jody holds Bachelor and Master Degrees in Organ Performance from Eastman School of Music and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Organ Performance from the University of Kansas. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, AAUW, PEO, and American Guild of Organists. In 2014, Jody was awarded Woman of the Year by the New Canaan chapter of AAUW. An enthusiast of church music, she has served on the board of the national United Church of Christ Musicians Association since 2012.

Jody was elected president of the organization in 2015 and remained in office until July, 2019. Jody was the organist at the national United Church of Christ Synod in Milwaukee this summer, where she played for plenaries and worship service.
