Missions and Outreach
Once a month (every third Thursday) our church provides and serves dinner at the Pacific House Homeless Shelter in Stamford. Volunteers are needed to both contribute food items and serve a hot meal to the approximately 40 men residing at the Shelter. These men always express their sincere gratitude for our hearty meal (usually ziti!) and in serving them, we truly see the face of Jesus. Please contact Andy Parkin, firstname.lastname@example.org for details on how to help.
Meals on Wheels
Our church has a longstanding relationship of service with Meals on Wheels of New Canaan. Prepandemic 25 church members were responsible for delivering healthy hot and cold meals to our neighbors on 12 routes per month. Many of our members delivered once a month on a Thursday in a team or individually. We would like to recommit to these regular routes together again. All volunteers must be vaccinated but there are no age limits. Please contact Ann Gervase, email@example.com to find out more, ask questions, arrange to shadow a volunteer or commit anew to a route. Our volunteers consistently find this to the most rewarding and uplifting of service engagements.
Children Music This Week!
Casting has begun for our annual Christmas Eve Nativity Pageant. Paper forms can be found on the bulletin board in Smith Hall, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a digital copy. Forms are due October 24 and casting will be announced October 27, at 5:00pm.The Parent Information Meeting will be on Sunday, November 7, at 11:15am in the Chapel. Rehearsals will occur on Sundays throughout November and December, and the Pageant will be at 4:00pm on Christmas Eve.
YG will hold its annual parents meeting this Sunday in the Meeting House. The 10:00am service will provide youth and families with the opportunity to hear from mission fish who served on our Mission Trip to Wakefield, Massachusetts this past June! This is a covenant event for fish and families which means that if your child wishes to attend any travel trip this year you must be attendance. The parent meeting will begin immediately following the 10:00am service and should wrap up by 11:45am. This is the best way to find out more about our community of faith and fellowship and the only way to get paperwork for our February Mission Trip.

Nurturing Nest: Mommy & Me – Music, Bible Stories, and Play
The Lord shall feed his flock like a shepherd: the Lord shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
The Congregational Church of New Canaan will offer programs for very young children designed to facilitate their spiritual nurture and understanding. This Christian Mommy and Me program, lovingly called “Nurturing Nest” will feature age-appropriate music, Bible Stories and interactive play around a monthly theme (love, joy, peace, etc). Acting Associate Minister to Children, Youth, and Families the Rev. Kibbie Laird says, “Many of the families who have moved to town during Covid have very young children and are looking to meet other young families and find a spiritual home.”
The Congregational Church welcomes both members and prospective members wherever they are on their faith journey and wants to offer a safe space for young children and their parents to gather weekly and explore our Christian faith together. If you are looking for connection, and a place for your children to explore their faith, we hope you will come to God’s Acre.
In lieu of an admission fee, the Congregational Church hopes each family will consider supporting one of our monthly mission partners, showing their children from an early age what it means “to love our neighbors.”
