Barb Clayton

Barb was called to Pastoral Care initially through her training in emergency medicine and patient care with the New Canaan EMS Corps.  She has completed two years of chaplain ministry training through Norwalk Hospital in their Clinical Pastoral Care program, combining theological and practical academics and clinical bedside pastoral patient care. Barb continues her chaplaincy work at Norwalk Hospital and Silver Hill Hospital, working with addiction recovery patients and those in mental health treatment programs.

Barb and her husband Jim have lived in New Canaan for 35 years, with a few years spent in London,  raising their five children here.  Barb is a Stephen Minister and has served as a Deacon and Trustee, taught Sunday school for 20 years, co-chaired a Stewardship Campaign, attended our Spiritual Gifts and Talents program, participated in two OG and YG Mission trips, served on YG and MSYG Ministry teams, participated in our church discernment process, co-chaired our most recent Senior Minister search, chaired our Associate Minister search, and currently chairs our Nominating and Governance Committee.

Barb understands that pastoral care is defined in everyday kindness as Love Thy Neighbor and is offered in many ways through our varied and established Ministry Teams. She feels a deep call to pastoral care.
