Enjoy these fun-filled resources while you soak up the summer sunshine!
YGers Matthew Chalon, Oliver Crookendon, Eliza Pohle, Caroline Callahan, and Sam Garner shared what YG means to them and how putting their faith into action on the annual Mission Trip has helped them grow in their faith.
Mission sponsors make our mission trips a reality. Would you consider being a mission sponsor? To donate, click here or click on the “Give” button in the upper right hand corner.
He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:8
God’s prophet Micah understood what a Mission Trip is really about. Sharing his prophesy with the faithful, he streamlined the all the laws into simple and clear directives: do justice, seek kindness, walk with God. For ten days each February this is the endeavor of our high school Youth Group.
Do justice: for our YG Mission Fish, that will look like living alongside their brothers and sisters in Christ despite difference in geographic region, socio-economic status, denomination, and race. This year, we will seek to create God’s Kingdom in Shaw, Mississippi, in the heart of the Mississippi Delta, where our 103 Fish will work long days dedicated to building that Kingdom here on earth.
Seek kindness: it looks like lending a hand and affirming our partner organization, Delta Hands for Hope, whose sole staff member feeds 412 public school children throughout the summer and provides them with unconditional love all year round.
Walk with God: this year we ask for your love, support, and prayers as we embark on a mission where ALL God’s children receive God’s love through us equally. As we head to a part of the country defined by the struggles and victories of the Civil Rights Movement, we lift up the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s words about service:
Your soul, which is generated by love, can be a part of this mission. Your contribution will make it possible for students with special financial situations to serve and grow in their faith. Please become a 2017 Mission Sponsor today and help us to serve with hearts full of grace. You can send in your check or make a donation online by clicking here. And as a bonus, as a Mission Sponsor you will receive personal letters from Mission Fish in the field and be celebrated as our ministry partners at Youth Sunday and the Mission Sponsor Brunch on Sunday, March 12.
To hear more from our mission partners about the work and ministry before us, I invite you to join us on Commissioning Sunday, January 22, at the 10:00am worship service. Thank you for your support and long live YG!
Love wins!
Caroline Ainsworth, Youth Minister Kelly Leather, Youth Director
